Verity Watkins

Verity is a contemporary animal portrait artist. Her paintings, created predominantly with acrylic paint and some with resin, are bursting with colour and texture. Showing the quirky characteristics of her subject through her painting style and composition, Verity likes to play and enhance the natural character of the subject animals.

Verity studied Textile Design at Nottingham Trent University and then went on to complete a PGCE in 2002. In 2009, Verity moved to Qatar for 8.5 years where she spent her time studying and painting camels, with their expressive faces they were the perfect subject to explore. She took part in many group and solo exhibitions in Qatar and on returning to Suffolk has joined the Suffolk Open Studios, Dennington Arts and Art in East Anglia art groups and has exhibited alongside a number of well loved Suffolk artists.

More recently her work has been focused on endangered wildlife as well as common farm animals and some local landscape work. Verity completed a large mural in Framlingham in 2021.

In 2022, she opened her own studio in Framlingham, studio10a where she teaches adults and children from age 7 upwards.
