Ruth Lyne

Ruth Lyne has always been intrigued by the natural colours and textures of the sea shore, by the wide horizons and the surface of the cliffs. Layering paint and scratching into it allows her to create artworks inspired by memories of the coast.

Ruth is also interested in the visual language used in abstract painting, placing vertical and horizontal elements to instil a sense of calm and balance in the image.

She doesn’t try to replicate the natural world but to create paintings and collage that evoke a range of feelings and memories in the viewer and in her.

‘The colours and textures of the coast have inspired my creative work for many years. The wide horizons and big skies of East Anglia can be found in my visual language alongside the delicate patterns found on a simple pebble.’

Ruth moved to Suffolk in 2020 and divides her time between fused glass, jewellery making and painting.
